Diane (full “off stage” name Diane Miller) is a Minneapolis-based singer, rapper, songwriter, guitarist and radio personality.
A "musical polymath," Diane's specialty is her far-reaching eclecticism and multi-faceted talents. For 15+ years, she's maintained an impressive array of jobs in the music industry, including vocalist, backing musician, songwriter, recording artist, DJ, journalist, talent buyer, event emcee and radio host/producer.
Her talent has brought her to stages as big as Target Field and First Ave, to stages as small as shanty dive bars, to venues as classy as Minneapolis's State Theater, to just about everywhere in between. She performs solo, duo, with a band, or as a special guest for one-off and/or ongoing projects. Kiss The Tiger, Haley, Tommy Stinson (of The Replacements), Al Church, and The New Standards are just a few of the recognizable names she’s supported on stage. Diane was also awarded the prestigious McKnight Artist Fellowship in 2020-2021.
In radio, Diane hosts and produces The Local Show on Minnesota Public Radio’s The Current. Every Sunday from 7 to midnight, she curates a 5-hour playlist featuring all Minnesota-based artists/bands. The show includes an artist of the month, gig list, local debuts, music news, throwback tracks, live recordings, interviews, and more.
Prior to her role at The Current, Diane worked as the talent booker for the Minneapolis-based venue/restaurant Icehouse. From dinner music featuring jazz trios, to monthly residencies featuring up-and-coming indie bands, to hip-hop dance parties, Diane was responsible for organizing 7-10 acts per week.
Diane first gained notoriety in her hometown of Fargo-Moorhead. The Fargo South High School and Minnesota State University Moorhead music grad fronted the local hip-hop band D Mills & The Thrills, as well as performed a numerous other musical projects. She also served as the editor-in-chief of the local alt weekly High Plains Reader. And she booked music for the indie venue The Aquarium.
